Aurelia was founded in a two-room office above a Notting Hill bookbinder, on a conviction that has not changed: the finest journeys are not found, they are made — by people who have stood in the place, at the right hour, and taken notes.
Philosophy
What we mean
by luxury.
Luxury, as this house practises it, has almost nothing to do with opulence. It is the difference between seeing the caldera and standing alone in it; between a temple and a temple at dusk with the abbot; between a reservation and a welcome. It is timing, access and attention — the three things that cannot be bought off a shelf, only built over years.
So we keep the house small. Twelve designers, each holding a portfolio of destinations they know the way a sommelier knows a cellar. Each destination re-inspected annually. Each journey drawn by hand — then checked, challenged and re-drawn by a second pair of eyes before it reaches you.
And we travel the way we ask you to: lightly, privately, and in a way that leaves the place better for our having been — through the conservancies, family houses and local masters who are our partners rather than our suppliers.

Seen, not searched
Nothing enters an Aurelia itinerary that one of us has not personally done — the room slept in, the guide dined with, the road driven at the hour we propose you drive it.
One traveller, one design
We do not operate groups, departures or packages. Every journey exists exactly once, for the people it was composed around, and is retired after them.
The early hour rule
Wherever the world queues, we go at dawn or after hours — by arrangement where possible, by alarm clock where necessary. The light is better and the place is yours.
Answered at any hour
While you travel, your designer — not a call centre — holds your journey. A cancelled boat, a closed pass, a whim at midnight: one message, and it is handled.
The Practice
From first call
to wheels up.
Every commission begins the same way: a conversation, usually over tea, about where you have been and what stayed with you. From it your designer drafts a first composition — destinations, sequence, season — and the two of you argue it into shape over as many rounds as it needs.
When the design is right, the house goes to work: the rooms held, the guides briefed, the tables booked, the contingencies mapped. You receive a single bound itinerary — paper, because some things should be — and a number that answers at any hour, in any time zone, for the length of the journey.
Most of our travellers come to us by introduction, and most return. The waiting list for the autumn design window opens in April; enquiries are welcome at any time.
